A slight increase in dairying – Letter to HB Today

Federated Farmers Hawkes Bay president Will Foley must think we all came down in the last shower of rain to imagine that we would find his statement that “the proposed RWSS could slightly increase the capacity for dairy land use” believable. (More dairying will harms rivers: Report, 23/11/13). Even Fonterra expects that 60% of the land to be irrigated by the dam will be converted to dairy. I’m not sure of what your readers definition of the word slight is but does an 100% increase in the area under diary in the Hawkes Bay from around 9,000ha to 20,900ha sound slight to you?
