There is a delicious irony in the HBRC laying a complaint with Radio NZ (Ruataniwha transparency questioned 4/10/13). Their press release states “HBRC is very concerned that submitters and the general public may have been influenced to the point of being mislead by the inaccurate, emotive and exaggerated reporting”. Does HBRC imagine that we have forgotten their own Tukituki Choices document which was in many eyes emotive and exaggerated? Does HBRC imagine that we have forgotten that the $80m in funding for the project was approved based on what they admitted at the time was inaccurate and incomplete information being put in front of the public in the Long term Plan? Long may Radio NZ continue pealing back the spin around the dam so that we the ratepayers can have a much better idea of the thinking that is putting $80m of our money at risk.
