I wrote this in responce to a recent article in HB Today “Growers Put the Boot In”
I was disappointed, but not surprised with the response of the HBRC Chairman to the suggestion by the Growers Action Group (GAG) that council had not listened to their concerns. Whatever the merits of GAG’s argument, to dismiss their suggestion that council did not engage with them as “absolute bloody rubbish” belittles the role of chairman. All he had to say was: it is my understanding that the council has had discussions with GAG, but I will check to make sure this is the case. It is typical of this council to make inflammatory comments about anyone who disagrees with their position, or questions their ability to do their job properly. I would suggest that this is yet another example of why the likes of GAG are calling for a change of council. Well done to them for having the courage to speak out.
