Early polling in Ikaroa-Rhawhiti – Letters to Editor HB Today

I have been involved in campaigning for a candidate in the Ikaroa-Rhawhiti by-election over recent weeks. One of things that stuck me is how difficult it is to get young people to vote. To me part of the solution should be to make it as easy as possible to do so. Why then are the Napier polling booths for early voting in the Taradale Town Hall & the old Big Save building on Carlyle Street? Surely the logical thing to do was to put these polling booths as close to the voters as possible – say somewhere in Maraenui.

Perhaps they don’t want them to vote!

  2. Billy Mckee says:

Yes people should be able to vote online or by txt.

Following the poor turnout last election there is a review of these rules going on at the moment and if my memory serves me correctly this issue is one of many up for discussion.
